                                                          vi.      Robin Hopkins – New Flooring, need help from the Dads Club, Cavett Lee volunteered to help out

 

b.      Treasurer’s Report – were able to raise over $100.00 for the Fallen Dads via the Superbowl Event, no other changes to fund balances

 

III.             Events/Projects

 

a.       Spiritual Development

                                                              i.      Friday Morning Mass – No Report

                                                            ii.      Capital Campaign – No Report

                                                          iii.      Dad-Child Retreat – Geoff Camp was going to email all the Dads Club members to try and get a more solid head count on the number of attendees for the May timeframe. 

                                                          iv.      In Fathers Footsteps Retreat – This retreat will be held at BMCHS on Saturday, February 28th, 2009. 

                                                            v.      Small Community of Faith – Chuck Duginski proposed that members of the Dads Club (roughly 6-7 people) join up and discuss the weekly topics centering on the 7 deadly sins.  Chuck was going to send out an email to all members looking for further interest.

 

b.      PTO

                                                              i.      Spirit Day Sponsors – Were given the date of 3/6/09 for the Dads Club to run the popcorn part of the event.  Those who volunteered included Brian Schmit, Owen Canfield, Chad Goodman and Chas Rooks.

                                                            ii.      Auction Poker Tournament – For those that signed up to play in the poker tournament, the date of that event is Saturday, February 28th, 2009.

                                                          iii.      Golf Tournament – Andrew Schmidt discussed the Golf Tournament would be happening on Monday, April 20th, 2009.  The organization meetings will be starting very soon and anyone willing to volunteer would be greatly appreciated. 

 

c.       Events

                                                              i.      Thunder Basketball Night – No Report.  Need someone to lead this effort..

                                                            ii.      Blazer Hockey Night – Phil Novak talked with the Blazer group and was able to get $10.00 tickets reserved for March 7th.  $4 from each ticket bought would then be donated back to the Dads Club.  Notification will be put in the Eagle Express letting SE families know about the event.  Event is open for all family members that can attend.

                                                          iii.      Fish Fry during Lent – Phil Novak has met with a couple of different caterers discussing different options for the event.  It is to be held in conjunction with the Stations of the Cross on a Friday night during lent.  There were a couple of different options available for pricing and food.  Discussions were had over the best time to hold the event and what to offer for price/food.  Denis mentioned that he had signed the Dads Club up to host Stations of the Cross on Friday, April 3rd.  It was discussed this being a possible night to host the Fish Fry.   There was no final resolution on how to proceed.

 

d.      Projects

                                                              i.      Community Garden – No Report.  Still need someone to volunteer to head up the organization of this project.

                                                            ii.      Grounds/Maintenance – Gabe Savely and Todd Jelinek are going to meet with the grounds/maintenance committee.  This discussion will revolve around help that can be provided in both directions.

                                                          iii.      Bereavement Scholarships – Information has been gathered to align this with the Catholic Foundation Plan.  If interested in donating to this cause or helping raise funds, please contact Andrew Schmidt.

 

IV.             New Business

 

a.      Catholic Schools Week

                                                              i.      Thank You card from Mrs. Ison was passed around. 

 

b.      Nominating Committee for 2009-2010 Officers

                                                              i.      Denis Rischard needs to put together a nominating committee of about 4 people to determine nominees for each of the executive positions for the 2009-2010 year.  At the March meeting, nominations need to be presented to the general meeting attendees.  At the April meeting, voting for positions will need to take place.

 

c.       Open Discussion

                                                              i.      CGSAA Track Meet – BMCHS will pay $300.00 to a group to help clean up after the track meet on 4/25/09.  Gary Savely offered this opportunity to the CSSE Dads Club.  With overwhelming support, this was agreed upon.

                                                            ii.      Executive Meeting 2/24/09, 7:00am, School Conference Room – All members of the Dads Club are invited to attend this meeting.

a. Spiritual Development
i. Friday Morning Mass – No Report
ii. Capital Campaign – No Report
iii. Dad-Child Retreat – Geoff Camp was unable to attend the meeting, however, he asked that those in attendance vote on what date would be best for the retreat at OLOG. The 2 dates available are the weekends of May 8-9 or August 14-15. Those in attendance voted to schedule this for the weekend in May. It was also discussed that the kids in attendance should be between PK and 5th grade.
iv. In Fathers Footsteps Retreat – This retreat will be held at BMCHS on Saturday, February 28th, 2009. Sign-up forms were handed out to all those in attendance. Registration will be accepted up until the day of the event.
v. Sacraments with Father Jacobi – No Report

b. PTO
i. Spirit Day Sponsors – Currently unscheduled for a Friday in the Spring. Gabe will contact the PTO and find out which days are available.
ii. Auction Poker Tournament – For those that signed up to play in the poker tournament, the date of that event is Saturday, February 28th, 2009.
iii. Golf Tournament – Andrew Schmidt discussed the Golf Tournament would be happening on Monday, April 20th, 2009. The organization meetings will be starting very soon and anyone willing to volunteer would be greatly appreciated.
iv. Prayers for Sarah Robinson – One of the SE K students has been diagnosed with acute leukemia. Please keep her in your prayers and if you would like to help out with meals or in any way, please contact Cordell Jordan.

c. Fundraising
i. Financial Report – Reported that we were going to donate $250 to the school to help out with Catholic Schools Week and an advertisement SE put in the Friday paper to promote the upcoming Open House on Sunday, January 25th.
ii. SuperBowl Party – Discussed that this was to be held at Lakeside Fish & Grill on Sunday, February 1st. Flyers had been sent home to all the families and we got a head count of 22 adults from those in attendance at the meeting. The cost is $20 per adult, of which a portion will be donated to the Fallen Dads funds.
iii. Thunder Basketball Night – No Report. Still looking for someone to volunteer the organization of this event.
iv. Blazer Hockey Night – Phil Novak was unable to attend the meeting, however, he asked that we discuss which night would be best to hold this event. After some discussion, it was decided to have this event held on Saturday, March 7th, 2009. The game starts at 7:00pm that evening. Phil will be discussing ticket prices and other items at the next meeting.
v. Fish Fry during Lent – Phil Novak was unable to attend the meeting, however, he was able to pass on that we are somewhat in limbo on this. The individual at CK who he was working with has not been able to solidify the equipment. Phil would have another update at the February Meeting.
vi. Other Ideas – Steak/Cigar Night, Poker Tourney, Golf Tourney, CGSAA Trace Meet – No Report.

d. Projects
i. Community Garden – No Report. Still need someone to volunteer to head up the organization of this project.
ii. Baseball Field – No Report.
iii. Bereavement Scholarships – Information has been gathered to align this with the Catholic Foundation Plan. If interested in donating to this cause or helping raise funds, please contact Andrew Schmidt.

a. Catholic Schools Week
i. $250.00 Donation for Friday paper advertisement promoting upcoming CSSE Open House

b. Helping Jack Holland Around the School
i. Gabe will be attending the next CSSE Grounds/Maintenance meeting. He will work with this committee to setup and organize some work done around the school possibly during Spring Break Weekend. Gabe should have more information at the next meeting.

c. Open Discussion
i. Knights of Columbus – Mardi Gras Party – Brac discussed that the annual event was being held on Saturday, February 21st, 2009. He asked that if you have no plans, please try to attend.
ii. Cordell Jordan for School Board – Cordell Jordan discussed that he is running for OKC District 1 School Board. He asked for our support in his campaign and that we make sure and get out there to vote on February 10th, 2009. If you are interested in helping Cordell campaign, please give him a call.

a.       Spiritual Development

 

                                                              i.      Friday Morning Mass – Would like for this Service to be the Dads Club Mass, afterwards get some coffee and donuts, Mass is at 6:30am in the Chapel

                                                            ii.      Capital Campaign – Charity and Prayer needs to continue to help the SE Capital Campaign.

                                                          iii.      Dad-Child Retreat – Geoff Camp has begun work on planning an event.  Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLOG) camp site was mentioned as a possible location for the retreat.  Took a show of hands on whether the Dads would prefer camping outside in tents or staying in cabins.  If you would like to help with this effort, please contact Geoff.

                                                           iv.      Sacraments with Father Jacobi – This is happening the 1st Wednesday of Each Month and lasts for about 1 hour.

 

b.      PTO

 

                                                              i.      Auction Wrap-Up – Cavett Lee discussed that the CSSE PTO Auction was a success and he thanked all of those present at the meeting who volunteered in different efforts throughout the event.

                                                            ii.      Spirit Day Sponsors – The Dads Club has signed up for 2 of these events.  The first will be Friday, 12/5 and the volunteers include Chad Goodman, Brian Schmit, Owen Canfield and Lawn Gardner.  The next event sponsored by the Dads Club will be sometime in the spring.

                                                          iii.      Golf Tournament – Andrew Schmidt discussed the Golf Tournament would be happening in the spring, Monday, April 27th, 2009.  Is going to discuss with the PTO in sharing a possible Car Raffle with the Dads Club.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact Andrew Schmidt. 

c.       Fundraising

 

                                                              i.      Financial Report – Gef Bice reported that we are doing fine.

                                                            ii.      Casino Nights, Poker Tournaments – Discussed that this might be a great opportunity to help raise some funds for the Dads Club.  If anyone is interested in heading up this effort, please contact Denis or Gabe.

                                                          iii.      Golf Tournaments – If anyone is interested in setting up the next tournament, please contact Denis or Gabe.

                                                          iv.      Thunder Basketball Night – Looking for someone to set up a night for either the Dads, or the Dads and Kids, to attend a Thunder basketball game.  If interested, please contact Denis or Gabe.

                                                            v.      Blazer Hockey Night – Phil Novak has agreed to lead this effort.

                                                          vi.      Other Ideas – Steak/Cigar Night, Mardi-Gras, Super Bowl Watch Party – Discussed the possibility of a Super Bowl Watch party.  Could get all the meeting rooms at SE, bring up a TV, the whole bit.  Owen Canfield was going to get with Denis Rischard to work on this fundraiser.

                                                        vii.      CGSAA Track Meet – Gary Savely mentioned that after the CGSAA track meet, they could use about 10-12 people to help clean up the stadium.  Would only take about an hour and could raise up to $400.00 for the Dads Club. 

d.      Projects

                                                            ii.      Baseball Field – Leon Joyce, Bill Kinsinger and many others have spent hours working on the baseball field. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Leon Joyce.

                                                          iii.      Bereavement Scholarships – Information has been gathered to align this with the Catholic Foundation Plan.  If interested in donating to this cause or helping raise funds, please contact Andrew Schmidt.

                                                          iv.      Squirrel Epidemic – Chas Rooks discussed that he had captured a few squirrels and disposed of them.

                                                            v.      Pre-K Room Project for Mrs. Yarbrough – Rafael Carattinni and Bill Thomas will be working with Mrs. Yarbrough to get some projects done in her classroom the weekend before Thanksgiving.

a.      Possible New Ideas

                                                              i.      January Girls Night Out – Dads would babysit all the kids and let the girls have some time out

                                                            ii.      NCAA Bracket Challenge – Sponsor some bracket challenges for the March Madness Basketball Tournament

a.      Thank You responses were given to Rick Fair for being able to provide such a great meeting facility. A follow up discussion was held in which the restaurant will begin taking drink orders during the next meeting.

a.       Spiritual Development

                                                              i.      Friday Morning Mass – Would like for this Service to be the Dads Club Mass, afterwards get some coffee and donuts, Mass is at 6:30am in the Chapel

                                                            ii.      Capital Campaign – Charity and Prayer needs to continue to help the SE Capital Campaign.

                                                          iii.      Father-Child Retreat – Geoff Camp volunteered to begin planning an event.  Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLOG) camp site was mentioned as a possible location for the retreat.  If you would like to help with this effort, please contact Geoff.

                                                          iv.      BMCHS “In Fathers Footsteps” – Looking for someone to head up this event for those interested from the SE Parish.  If interested, please contact Denis or Gabe.

                                     i.      Auction Attendance & Support

                                                            ii.      Auction Setup – Saturday, 11/8 – Discussed that if Dads could be available at any time during that day to help set up, please contact Ashley Lee, killian1127@hotmail.com.   Also discussed that if Dads could baby-sit the children for all the mothers that are planning to attend, this could also be of benefit.  Phil Novak mentioned that he had some delivery guys showing up that day that would be available to help set up or move any large items.

                                                          iii.      Spirit Day Sponsors – Discussed that this (popcorn popping) is a once a month event in which it would be good if the Dads Club could sponsor one each semester.  Chad Goodman, Brian Schmit and Lawn Gardner offered to lead up this effort.  Please email Becky Barry to find out when the Dads Club could get to work on this.  If you are interested in helping out with this, please contact Chad, Brian or Lawn. 

c.       Fundraising

                                                              i.      Casino Nights – Discussed that this might be a great opportunity to help raise some funds for the Dads Club.  Denis passed around a flier from another men’s group that does this for their parish.  Trey Welker mentioned we might be able to borrow the equipment from the Epiphany group to get started on this.  If anyone is interested in heading up this effort, please contact Denis or Gabe.

                                                            ii.      Golf Tournaments – Mentioned that we have had one successful golf tournament in which we able to raise over $400.00.  If anyone is interested in setting up the next tournament, please contact Denis or Gabe.

                                                          iii.      Thunder Basketball Night – Looking for someone to set up a night for either the Dads, or the Dads and Kids, to attend a Thunder basketball game.  If interested, please contact Denis or Gabe.

                                                          iv.      Blazer Hockey Night – Deep into Social time, Phil Novak agreed to head up an effort to get something set up for a Blazer Hockey Night.  If interested, please contact Phil.

                                                            v.      Other Ideas for Fundraising – Steak/Cigar Night, Mardi-Gras, Bedlam Football Watch Party.  Please contact Denis or Gabe if you are interested in heading up or creating a new fundraising event.

a.       Gym Enhancements – Assist Athletic Commission – The Dads Club is looking for ways to enhance the current gymnasium, either by replacing the current score board, working on the floor, or supplying a new clock table.  If interested in helping out with this, please contact Todd Jelinek.

b.      SE Alumni Events – 50 Year School Anniversary

c.       Squirrel Epidemic – (Not a Joke) apparently there is squirrel problem on the playground.  Mrs. Williams has asked the Dads Club to help take care of the problem.  Chas Rooks will be leading this effort.  If you would like to help out, please contact Chas.
